If one assumes Facebook represents a cross-section of society (controlling for those users who don’t use English as a first language), then perhaps despair is warranted… or at least bitter laughter.

  2. I’m sorry, but really? I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I think the last comment by ‘Jeff’ sums it up perfectly. If these people are breeding, we are all in big trouble!

  3. This is a continuous struggle and peeve of mine, señor.

    But …. What to do? Seriously?

    I’m just glad I have a wife and children who are willing to learn and come to me (as I go to them) when spelling and syntax are concerns.

    Best thing you can do when the situation arises is gently correct.
