Once again, I am inspired by the amazing Citizen Janey and her blog… even if this time I am going to be stumped several times!

  1. Of all the bands/artists in your cd/record collection, which one do you own the most albums by?
This is impossible to answer because not all of the artists in my collection have massive numbers of albumbs! Suffice it to say that in most cases, I try to buy everything I can when I really like an artist. Shriekback exemplifies this because I even have the albums that are, well, crappy!
  2. What was the last song you listened to?
Mannheim Steamroller – The 7 Colours of the Rainbow. Don’t you dare laugh.
  3. What’s in your record/cd player right now?
Nothing. I don’t own either, outside of a CD changer in my car, and I have six discs in it that I never listen to thanks to the bounty of Sirius/XM radio.
  4. What song would you say sums you up?
Geez, I do not know if there is one, but I will go with Nemesis from Shriekback.
  5. What was the last show you attended?
Concert? It would have to be when Depeche Mode played at GMU a million years ago. I love music but I’m just not connected to the concert scene, do not like to go alone, and cannot afford outrageous ticket prices.
  6. What was the greatest show you’ve ever been to?
I think it would have to be a toss-up between the above Depeche Mode show and seeing Chumbawumba live in DC.
  7. What’s the worst band you’ve ever seen in concert?
Erasure. The concert I saw was basically unmemorable.
  8. What band do you love musically but hate the members of?
I really cannot think of one.
  9. What show are you looking forward to?
See above&emdash;I have no idea what or who is playing anymore, though I would not turn down an invitation to a good concert if one were extended!
  10. What is your favorite band shirt?
I don’t own any (yes, I do, too love music). I would love to have one from Shriekback or Die Prinzen, though.
  11. What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?
    Laurie Anderson, in a heartbeat.
  12. What musician would you like to be in love with for a day?
A day isn’t long enough. Please resubmit your query in quintuplicate!
  13. Sabbath or solo Ozzy?
    Er.
  14. Commodores or solo Lionel Ritchie?
    Commodores.
  15. Punk rock, hip hop or heavy metal?
If those are my only choices, punk.
  16. Name four flawless albums:
How do you define flawless? Here are four albums I love and listen to over and over and over:
    AArt, Acoustic Alchemy
Carry on Up the Charts, The Beautiful South
    Big Night Music, Shriekback
    Oil and Gold, Shriekback
  17. Did you know that filling out this survey makes you a music geek?
    Shh, I’m really not.
  18. What was the greatest decade for music?
There hasn’t been the greatest one yet, but there have been a lot of really good ones; and I won’t presume to list them all.
  19. How many music-related videos/dvds do you own?
I think I have maybe four music videos.
  20. Do you like Journey?
I don’t know. I’m sure I have heard their music, but they do not stick out in my mind.
  21. What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
Again with the favorite! Geesh. I do not have one, but I listen to the soundtrack from Solaris pretty regularly.
  22. Rolling Stones or Beatles?
Beatles. My blog, my preference, my opinion. You are welcome to disagree, but do not cast aspersions on my choice as I do not cast aspersions on yours.
  23. What’s the crappiest CD/record/etc. you’ve ever bought?
Oh, gods, it would have to be the one that Leonard Nimoy sang. I have blocked the title from my memory, it was so bad.
  24. Do you prefer vinyl or CDs?
CD. Vinyl melts too easily and I am not that much of an audiophile.

Here you go: (And you thought you were a music geek)

Of all the bands/artists in your cd/record collection, which one do you own the most albums by?
After losing a cd collection twice (one was 3000+, one was close to 1000), I stick to mp3s, so I go by songs now (I buy most of my music online, ftr). I have the most by Dead Can Dance/Lisa Gerrard/Brendan Perry, and Harry Connick Jr.

What was the last song you listened to?
Listening to Misguided Angel by Cowboy Junkies right now. In my house the music never goes off.

What’s in your record/cd player right now?
I listen to Spotify when I’m at home, which is a streaming music player, and I have Cowboy Junkies on.

What song would you say sums you up?
I wouldn’t, but every year my sister picks a song that sums up each person in our family and this year she picked: Ariadne – Dead Can Dance, Autumn Interlude – Amethystium, Hello (Turn Your Radio On) by Shakespears Sister

What was the last show you attended?
I don’t really remember. Um, oh! Children of the Revolution, in 2006.

What was the greatest show you’ve ever been to?
Santana at the Puyallup Fair in WA State, I think it was in 1995.

What’s the worst band you’ve ever seen in concert?
Afghan Wigs. To be fair, I was there to see Violent Femmes and House of Pain, but AW were shite.

What band do you love musically but hate the members of?
I don’t really pay attention to the band members. I don’t really care about them, as long as they put out music I love.

What show are you looking forward to?
I’m not going to any, and I don’t plan on it anytime soon.

What is your favorite band shirt?
Oooo I had one from Danzig’s Little Whip tour (I think it was in 1995 as well, or 1994, with Type O Negative), or the GnR Appetite for Destruction shirt I bought at, funny enough, the Use Your Illusion tour with Metallica and Motorhead.

What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?
Lisa Gerrard (even though she’s pretty spacey) or Azam Ali, or if I could time travel, man, Hildegard von Bingen.

What musician would you like to be in love with for a day?
Just a day? Robbie Williams would be nice.

    Sabbath or solo Ozzy?
Yeah, no, I think the music but his voice drives me clawing my ears off insane.

    Commodores or solo Lionel Ritchie?
Commodores, but I did like his solo stuff.

Punk rock, hip hop or heavy metal?
Heavy metal, probably, since there aren’t a lot of punk bands that I really like.

    Name four flawless albums:
Dead Can Dance: Toward the Within
    Stellamara: Seven Valleys
    Harry Connick Jr.: Star Turtle
    Andrew Bird: Noble Beast

Did you know that filling out this survey makes you a music geek?
    I am a music geek.

What was the greatest decade for music?
    All of them.

How many music-related videos/dvds do you own?
    None.

    Do you like Journey?
Meh, a couple songs, but on the whole, no.

What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
I really couldn’t say. Anything John Williams or Lisa Gerrard composed.

    Rolling Stones or Beatles?
Beatles. I hate the Rolling Stones. Funny though, I like several of their songs remade, though.

    What’s the crappiest CD/record/etc. you’ve ever bought?
    I’ve liked them all.

Do you prefer vinyl or CDs?
Vinyl. I used to have a massive collection of them from the 20s on up. I love the way they sound. But I prefer mp3s over all.

  5. chicken says:

Um, I never actually bought it per se, but I checked it out on my public library card as a teenager, so I have to agree about the Leonard Nimoy album. DIRE DIRE DIRE. Of course, being a particularly Trek-obsessed teenager, I just HAD to check it out, and was a bit mortified and surprised, to say the least.

  6. Arianrhod says:

Hee. If you take music reccs from me you’re a music geek :D Which is AWESOME.

  7. Of all the bands/artists in your cd/record collection, which one do you own the most albums by?
J.S. Bach, because he was one of the most prolific.
What was the last song you listened to?
Fulgens Lubar Ecclesiae by Guillaume Dufay
What’s in your record/cd player right now?
    Nothing. I am listening online.
What song would you say sums you up?
    I can’t think of one.
What was the last show you attended?
That would be the Festival of Lessons and Carols I performed in. I can count on two hands the number of concerts (out of hundreds) I’ve attended by walking in the front door.
What was the greatest show you’ve ever been to?
Don Pasquale at the Brno State Opera House in Brno, Czechoslovakia.
What’s the worst band you’ve ever seen in concert?
Uh, probably a free pop concert someone dragged me to. Fortunately I forget all that pretty quickly.
What band do you love musically but hate the members of?
The Vienna State Philharmonic, which doesn’t hire female musicians.
What show are you looking forward to?
The one I’m hoping to give this fall.
What is your favorite band shirt?
The one for my current ensemble–it’s just so cool!
What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?
    Pinchas Zuckerman.
What musician would you like to be in love with for a day?
    The late Virgil Fox.
    Sabbath or solo Ozzy?
    Er.
    Commodores or solo Lionel Ritchie?
    *shrug*
Punk rock, hip hop or heavy metal?
    None.
    Name four flawless albums:
    Handel : Acis and Galatea
Scarlatti : complete Keyboard Works by Scott Ross. Okay, so this is now 25 albums.
Did you know that filling out this survey makes you a music geek?
    Hi there, Captain Obvious.
What was the greatest decade for music?
    The 1740s.
How many music-related videos/dvds do you own?
    Thousands.
    Do you like Journey?
    No.
What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
    Amadeus. duh.
    Rolling Stones or Beatles?
    No.
    What’s the crappiest CD/record/etc. you’ve ever bought?
Some horrible one-hit wonder from the 1960s that I promptly gave away to someone who liked it.
Do you prefer vinyl or CDs?
    CDs take up less room.

  8. Kat says:

Sound track for me has to be Last of the Mohicans… g-d, great sex music there! And with visions of Daniel Day Lewis dancing in my head, I shall retreat and cultivate my Rolling Stones on my iPod for our summer extravaganza!

  9. *claps hands in glee*

LOVE it — and now I’m going to have to check out Shriekback, since I’m not familiar with them

(PS: I only smiled with the Mannheim Steamroller reference… shhhh)
