This, plus some pretty bald-faced religious bigotry elsewhere in the state, should be cause for concern for everyone—not just those who follow Islam. Let us not forget that the United States is not, and has never been, a “Christian” nation and that freedom to practice one’s faith (or lack thereof) is a fundamental part of the Constitution—no matter how strenuously bigots and muckrakers try to deny it.
