[W]ords hurt. I’m not sure what is going on with people in this world, but more and more frequently people seem to be blurting out everything that crosses their mind without thinking about how it sounds when it comes out of their mouths. I learned a long time ago that the child’s rhyme “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” is completely backwards. Physical wounds heal, but psychological ones last forever.

My friend Karin wrote the above in her post, and I can’t agree with her enough. I don’t know why people seem to be diving for the bottom when it comes to dealing with others these days—maybe it’s just age-related myopia on my part—but it feels like treating others with dignity has been tossed out the window these days.

It’s not only with things we say that are less than kind ~ but when things sincerely meant and well-intended are completely misinterpretated with meanings we never intended….
It’s wise to think before penning with the keytaps.
Also it’s great to spend more time away from the net, and find there’s quite a life going on!
