Not surprisingly, I love virtually everything on this list (I’m not a fan of hot chili peppers mainly because they upset my stomach).

I slightly increased the resistance for today’s ride. It meant I got drenched in sweat quickly, but I cooled down in between and after each riding session (of 15 and 25 minutes, respectively). All in all, I think it was a pretty good ride and hope to repeat or improve it tomorrow!

Not my best time again, but when the stomach calls a work stoppage for food, you gotta do what you gotta do. Since my company is about to switch us away from crappy health insurance to abysmal health insurance, I need to call my doctor to get my July appointment shifted into June. I’ll get weighed then, and one hopes I’ll see a nice drop from last time.
Total riding time: 35 minutes (in three chunks, interrupted by phone calls)

Total recovery time: About six minutes, maybe.

I’d planned to put in time yesterday but stress that nearly led to a panic attack kept me off the bike. Today I didn’t manage to put in quite as much time as I had hoped, but I’m still pleased with 25 minutes. It’s a good, solid amount of time and had my bladder and stomach not both been fairly insistent for attention, I would probably have gone longer. So tomorrow’s goal is to get back to my original goal of thirty minutes a day; Friday’s is to aim for 35, and we’ll go from there…

Hey there! Remember me? I’ll bet you thought I’d fallen off the planet (perhaps again). Nope—I was away for a while, part of which was in Michigan on holiday, but I’m back. I haven’t ridden the bike in a few weeks now and, as I suspected, my stamina has drastically diminished. Still, I’m pleased I was able to put in twenty-five minutes today, and I hope I’ll be back to my more reasonable average of forty to forty-five daily soon!
Good to see you all again
Riding time: forty-five minutes, in a twenty minute stint followed by a twenty-five minute stint with about half an hour in between.
Recovery time: about ten minutes total, five per stint.
I realized yesterday that one of the reasons riding has been challenging for me lately is that the process of weaning off of Lexapro that I’ve been undertaking isn’t working right. I’ve had trouble focusing, minor things that shouldn’t even impinge on my awareness have set me off, and I haven’t felt like riding. After consulting with my GP, I’m going back on Lexapro and hope to see my numbers and frequency return to their former steady increase.
Riding time: thirty minutes.
Recovery time: about five minutes.
I need to remember not to ride shortly after eating—not only do I feel too bloated to really put in a good effort, but I just can’t manage the energy to ride for long. Live and learn, though! My next challenge will be making sure I ride every day while Piotr is visiting.
Riding time: 35 minutes.
Recovery time: about five minutes.
Not much to say today—it’s a rainy, bleah day out and I’m pooped. I almost didn’t make it on the bike!
Hey there! I’ll bet you thought I fell off the planet, didn’t you? No such luck
Riding time: ONE HOUR. Broken into three sections: fifteen minutes, fifteen minute break (reading Men At Arms). Twenty minutes, fifteen minute break (more reading, and a lot more laughing). Twenty-five minutes, then off to the shower.
Recovery time: all told, probably fifteen minutes. Most of the break times above were spent reading and enjoying the cool breezes.
Well, here we are: one hour on the bike! I wasn’t sure I’d make it—especially given how spotty my riding time has been lately—but this morning I felt motivated and off I went! I had some inspirational music on my iPod shuffle (thank you, Kristine W, Little Boots, and DJ TMS!), some hilarious reading (thank you, Terry Pratchett!), and cool, refreshing breezes to help me keep things going. One time doing one hour isn’t a trend, of course, but I’m really pleased I was able to do it (and early enough in the day that I could put in more time later!) and I think I will give it another shot tomorrow.
And perhaps when I’ve comfortably got an hour under my belt, it’ll be time to get one of these:
